Biotin is a water-soluble vitamin that belongs to the B vitamin family. It is also known as vitamin B-7 or vitamin H.

Our body does not store water-soluble vitamins, so we need to absorb them from their diets. Biotin deficiency is fairly rare, but pregnant women and people who drink high amounts of alcohol — may develop it.
