The  Coronavirus disease (COVID-19)  has caused a worldwide pandemic of respiratory illness, which  appeared in Wuhan , a city in China,  in December 2019,The virus that causes COVID-19 can lead to severe lung  inflammation and other viruses can set off dangerous asthma attack. But people with asthma have greater fear that they  will  have worser condition and more likely to get COVID-19. For people with  respiratory conditions such as asthma, their COVID-19 outbreak is  understandably  more , As we all know that  COVID-19 attacks the lungs and can trigger asthma symptoms like wheezing, chest tightness and difficulty in breathing  which will be very distressing for patients.

Many Health care organizations have cautioned that asthmatics are more likely  at higher risk of severe illness if they get COVID-19. Here  COVID-19   are particularly troubling  for those  who having with respiratory conditions such as Asthma. It is important to asthma  patients to know about  they are not at  higher risk for contacting  COVID-19, and currently there is no evidence of increased infection rate in asthma cases. Although the centers for disease control and prevention states that patients with moderate to severe asthma could have higher risk of developing more severe disease but still there is no published data to support them. There are some early reports that steroids were contraindicated in patients with COVID-19, although there are also some indications that steroids are useful in severe COVID-19 .

According to current evidence  on COVID-19 and asthma it does not suggest the people with  asthma are more likely to get COVID-19 , But  hospital data shows that respiratory patients are more likely to get severe complications due to COVID-19.

So best action for  people with  asthma need to  protect themselves from virus through measures such as  Wash  hands regularly with soap and water or using alcohol-based hand sanitizer, Quit smoking  ,stay away from  those who are sick and also people with asthma are on controller medications to control their asthma so continue taking your controller medications and do not stop them. Inform to your healthcare provider if any symptoms develops and of course maintain social distance, minimizing face to face contact and Avoid  spirometry in patients  with confirmed  or suspected COVID-19.
