An outbreak of Covid-19 in China during December 2019 has dominated the whole world and resulted in greater public health risk. SARS-CoV-2 has spread widely and played a cornerstone in morbidity and mortality.Life threatening conditions like Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome(ARDS),thromboembolism,cytokine storm,multisystem organ failure and extra pulmonary manifestations devastated people’s well being.SARS-CoV-2 continued it’s havoc across the world enduring second,third wave outbreaks.Though fast going clinical research has lead to the better management of Covid-19, there are limitations in the spread of infection as well as recovery of patients due to mutant variants. Adaptations to the new human host makes SARS-CoV-2 prone to mutations which has resulted in development of mutant variants like Alpha (B.1.1.7), Beta (B.1.351), Gamma(P.1) and Delta (B.1.617.2). Extraordinary vaccine development speed and global mass vaccination efforts are the only current hopes to prevent Covid-19 severity.
