10-12 shaving blades, four big needles, a chain, 263 coins, besides pieces of glasses – collectively weighing 5 kg, removed from the stomach of Maqsood on Friday.
In a rare type of surgery performed by Sanjay Gandhi Medical College and Hospital in adjoining Rewa , doctors removed 5 kilogram iron objects from stomach of 32-year-old patient, Mohammed Maqsood, who visited hospital with complaints of stomachache.
On X-ray examination and various tests a team of doctor came to know regarding the presence of metal inside the stomach.
Dr Priyank Sharma, attached to the Sanjay Gandhi Medical College and Hospital (SGMCH), on Sunday said a team of six doctors surgically removed 10-12 shaving blades, four big needles, a chain, 263 coins, besides pieces of glasses – collectively weighing 5 kg, from the stomach of Maqsood on Friday.”The patient was not in a good frame of mind and it seems he swallowed these objects secretly,” Dr Sharma said.
