Before going to discuss about other disease, I feel its better to discuss about sleep. Because sleep plays very important role in health. Actually many say that sleep is a double edged sward! If you sleep more that is a problem, if you sleep less that is another problem. And many want to know what normal sleep time is. Many health advisers say it is 6 to 8 hours.
So sleeping less than 6 hours or more than 8 hours is wrong? I say NO
First understand the need of the sleep. When you feel sleepy? When your body or your mind tired more, Right? That means you are sleeping for rest full ness. Whenever you feel you got enough rest you can get up. That time is not needed to be in between 6 to 8 hours.
And your rest time is always depended on your physical or psychological stress or work load. That means it is only for you. I.e. your workload is always different from others workload, so your sleep time is also different from theirs sleep time, right?
So there is no common time. Than why many people says 6 to 8 hours is the sleep time? That is your doubt right? That means they are considering the majority peoples time. Many people are sleeping for 6 to 8 hours, for that reason many believing that 6 to 8 hours is ideal time. But it’s not ideal time, its depend on individual. And it may varies from day to day , when you work more , you sleep more. When work less, you wont be tired much and little rest is enough.
Now the question is when to sleep? Day or night???
I say you should only sleep at night , not in day. I can give you many scientific reasons for this. First most reason is a hormone called melatonin. Melatonin is responsible for sleep and awake. Melatonin release will induce sleep and you feel to wake up when melatonin stops releasing. Melatonin only releases in dark time that means only at night. And when first light ray touches your eye or body it stops releasing. That means nature sets your body to sleep only at nights. If you are breaking that rule hormone imbalance will occur and it leads to many problems.
Second reason is SUN.
Sun gives you so much energy. Each and every cell in our body have natural power generating system. They generate energy by using oxygen and sunlight. If you are working in daytime you can generate some energy by using sunlight. If you are sleeping in daytime and working in night you will loose that energy.
Than for all energy you needs to depend on food and night time your food metabolism also not so active. Finally it will show bad result on your health.
